Hier noch ein Bericht von der Comic-Con. Hawaii Five-0 scheint da ja der Renner zu sein. Oh, und die Con ist wohl bissi grösser als die in London...
‘Hawaii Five-0′ packs Comic-Con Like 0 0 Retweet by James Hibberd | July 23rd, 2010 at 10:20 am | View Comments
The most interesting thing about the panel for CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" is how many people were there.
The midsize ballroom was absolutely packed, a great sign for a new CBS crime drama hoping to draw younger viewers. Based on the fan questions, a large chunk of the audience were drawn to the event based on their love of "Lost" and "Battlestar Galactica" (Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park are in the cast), but still ... whatever works.
There event wasn't without one old-school touch, showing a video of an orchestra recording the show's theme song. No matter how many quickie zooms the camera uses to try and spruce that up, you're still watching old guys playing trumpets.
"I'm really happy to be on a show that has a theme song," quipped Kim.
The producers said that, unlike in the original series, the characters played by Kim and Park will have plenty of screen time, including stand-alone episodes built around their characters.
Also, though it's an episodic show, producers left room for certainly mythological elements to be built into the series that will evolve.
"From the begging we thought this was an episodic story we were going to tell [but we also] always saw this as the beginning of something," said executive producer Peter Lenkov. "We keep adding to the mythology of this show week to week."
One fan asked Park: "Will we see you more in bikinis?"
"I don't know if i have a much of a choice," she said. "I want the guys in bikinis."
"In the second episode McGarrett is coming out of the water after swimming," offered exec prod Roberto Orci.
When asked the inevitable question about the "Lost" ending, Kim said, "It's nice to be able to talk about 'Lost' without feeling like there's a muzzle about to be put around my mouth. As much as the science fiction elements were interesting the heart has always been more interesting…when the characters found peace for themselves, that was the moment i was looking for. As far as Jin and Sun go, I felt like the two of them were bound to have a tragic ending ... there was something beautiful and poetic about them giving up their lives for each other."
Und gleich noch die offizielle Bestätigung, dass es am 20. September anlaufen wird:
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It's official. The new Hawaii Five-O will premiere on CBS Monday September 20 at 9:00 PM Hawaii time. The date is a symbolic choice; it will commemorate the premiere of the original series 42 years ago on September 20, 1968.
Folks on Oahu won't have to wait quite that long for a taste of the new version of the classic cop drama. You can catch the premiere on September 13th at Sunset on the Beach in Waikiki.
The new series stars Alex Loughlin as Steve McGarrett, Scott Caan as Danny Williams, Grace Park as Kono Kalakaua, Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho and Jean Smart as the governor. The show began shooting on Oahu last week.

Daniel Dae Kim spricht über seine Rolle und Hawaii Five-0 an der Comic-Con
Comic-Con: Daniel Dae Kim is Lost no more
Postmedia News July 23, 2010 – 8:00 pm By Chris Lackner
SAN DIEGO — Instead of being chased by a smoke monster in Hawaii, Daniel Dae Kim is now chasing crooks in the tropical paradise.
It’s one of many changes of pace for the actor, who is part of the much-anticipated TV re-vamp of Hawaii Five-0, being unveiled to the public at Comic Con, the pop-culture fan convention currently on in San Diego.
There are a few obvious things audiences will notice about post-Lost Kim when they see him in the crime procedural.
“I’m in climate-controlled situations; I’m not dirty. And my clothes don’t have holes in them,” he says with an easy-natured laugh. Shot in Hawaii, the remake will debut on CBS this fall and stars Alex O’Loughlin as detective Steve McGarrett, Scott Caan as detective Danny “Danno” Williams, Kim as detective Chin Ho Kelly and Grace Park as detective Kona “Kono” Kalakaua.
“There is a very different sensibility to this show. Lost was epic in scale, a large story with sci-fi elements,” Kim says. “This show is more action-oriented. It’s fast, high-octane, and a familiar kind of story: cops and robbers.
“(And) we are able to showcase Hawaii in a way Lost wasn’t able to, because it was supposed to be an unnamed island in the Pacific.”
Kim said he only watched a few episodes of the original show before filming.
“Television sensibilities have changed, and we have to pay respect to everything (the original) show was and, at the same time, create something new for a new generation.”
Kim said there was also an appeal for him in returning to a more traditional show.”I thought this (character) was a big departure from Jin on Lost,” he says when asked about taking the role. “As an actor, I’m always looking for a challenge, and to diversify.” “I get a fair share of people who think I (actually) am Jin…. I’m looking forward to people saying, ‘Wait a second, that guy can speak English. And he’s not married…. It will be a welcome change.”
Kim said he re-watched the Lethal Weapon and 48 Hours films as models for the show’s all-important buddy-cop dynamic to help find that right mix of comedy and action.
“Hawaii Five-0 is a … show where a mystery is solved in a few episodes, as opposed to five seasons.”
The show’s creators said the premiere episode will introduce a couple key mysteries that will thread through the season, but each episode will largely have its own self-contained story.
The spirit of the original was about family, and the revamp also wanted to stay true to that.
“(It’s about) how this team functions like a family every week while solving a crime,” said executive producer Alex Kurtzman. Executive producer Peter Lenkov said the goal of the series was also to portray Hawaii’s urban side and dark underbelly, and show “it’s not just palm trees.”
“It’s not like everybody’s on vacation,” director Len Wiseman quipped.
Well, the criminals are certainly never on vacation, and now the Hawaii Five-0‘s detectives are back on duty, the lawbreakers had better watch out.

‘Hawaii Five-O’ Debuts New Theme Song by Sara Bibel Jul 24th, 2010 | 5:33 AM |
Bah-dah-ba-da-ba-da…. ba da ba da dum. ‘Hawaii 5-0‘ is coming back to CBS this fall. The network unveiled a new version of the iconic theme song at a Comic Con panel featuring the show’s Executive Producers and two of its stars, ‘Lost’s‘ Daniel Dae-Kim and ‘Battlestar Gallactica’s‘ Grace Park. The rebooted H50, as the network has dubbed it, has one of the most entertaining pilots this season. The show is not your grandpa’s cops in paradise show. It may even be the series that finally achieves CBS’s not so secret goal of making Alex O’Loughlin happen. Here are the highlights of the pre-panel press conference.
The Teaser Kicks Ass. Said Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman, “Peter Lenkov came to us and said, ‘I really want to do Hawaii 5-0 because it’s a show I used to watch with my father.’ Then he pitched us the teaser which had such an extraordinary emotional entry point that it became clear it wasn’t going to be just a cop show but a character-driven show. “ Adds Daniel Dae Kim, “Watch the first ten minutes of the pilot and ask yourself if this is a television show or a film.”
‘Hawaii Five-O’ Will Revamp the Classic for the 21st Century. Said Executive Producer Roberto Orci, ” I think the fans will see very clearly that we stayed true to the original spirit of the show, which is about family, how this team functions as a family while solving crimes every week. Times have changed. We’re now living in a post 9/11 world. So Hawaii, which we’re saying is in some ways the gateway to the rest of the world, has become an access point for all the problems that we face.” Added Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman, “‘Miami Vice’ is sort of a model for us in terms that the crimes were a little more organized, more high stakes, had a little bit of an international flavor.”
There Will Be A Season-Long Story Arc. According to Executive Producer Peter Lenkov, “It’s definitely a close-ended procedural. Stories are broken down into three stories. There’s an A part which is a crime, a B story which is a character story, and the C runner is sort of added value to the show. That’s this arc that’s going to run the course of the first season. We’re setting up a mystery in the pilot, actually, a couple mysteries. We’re going to unfold the mysteries layer by layer over the course of the series. If you’re a regular viewer, you’re going to be very satisfied at the end of the season. If you’re tuning in every few weeks, you’ll see just a good, procedural show. One of the mandates we laid out at the beginning, we wanted to do event television. We wanted something that felt bigger and worthy of committing yourself for an hour every week.”
Daniel Dae Kim is Having The Time of His Life. Kim enthused, “I’m not in the jungle. I’m in a climate controlled environment. I’m not dirty. My clothes don’t have holes in them.” He added,” One of the things that appealed to me was that this was not science fiction. I thought it was a nice departure from who Jin was. I get my fair share of people who think that I am Jin, so I look forward to people saying, “He can speak English!”
Kono Is More Than Just Eye Candy in the New ‘Five-0.’ Said Grace Park, “Kono is a rookie cop that’s going to join this new formed team. She’s related to Kelly. She gets to meet Dan-o and Garrett right off the bat. She participates in something that she probably wouldn’t be able to do on her own. With that she gets thrust into all the crime that’s really cutting edge, probably not following all the rules. But they get done what they need to get done. She’s pretty hands on. She’s a tom boy, but at the same time she’s a woman.”
The Producers Worked Really Hard to Find Actors To Fill The Iconic Roles. Said Executive Producer Peter Lenkov, “We figured really early on that the Danny-McGarrett relationship was central to the show. I met with Daniel Dae Kim early on. When I saw how passionate he was, I started writing the character for him. With McGarrett and Danny, it’s Jack Lord. He’s got such big shoes to fill. The show was on for twelve years. We really wanted an actor who didn’t come with a lot of baggage. We wanted someone who could really slip into the role and be Steve McGarrett. We started looking around at the landscape of who was available. CBS has a huge investment in Alex [O'Loughlin] as everyone knows. We were a little skeptical. We met with him because he had done two shows before. We felt he was incredibly passionate about the material. He’s a real physical guy. He was never allowed to do any of the stuff that we allowed him to do. It was really after him to figure out what we needed in terms of our Dan-O.”
Hawaii is The Fifth Character. Said director Len Wiseman, “I liked the idea of presenting two sides of Hawaii. It has its glamorous postcard version and then one these guys deal with is the other side of Hawaii which is quite seedy and dark and dangerous. You see that in its presentation when you really see the island and then you get closer and closer to the island and what they’re dealing with and you realize it’s not everybody’s vacation.” Added Lenkov, “Most people know Hawaii from the palm trees and beaches, but there’s a real urban environment. There’s a downtown. There’s skyscrapers.

(Thanks GeekDad for helping me get in!) And now you guys reap the benefits! I don’t really know what to tell you about it though. You’ve seen the original? Well picture that, but set in 2010 and produced for CBS. It will fit seamlessly into the CBS lineup.

Hawaii Five-0 Says Aloha to the Comic-Con Crowd Friday - 11:16PM by BuzzSugar 0 | |retweet6|Share Email Love This Twitter Yahoo! BuzzStumble Digg --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jin is back and alive! Indeed, that seemed to be the Comic-Con fan reaction when actor Daniel Dae Kim came out to promote Hawaii Five-0. During the panel, he addressed the Lost finale and his new role as Chin Ho in the remake of the iconic cop series. He was joined by director Len Wiseman and costar Grace Park, whose appearance got Battlestar Galactica fans buzzing. I've already given you a peek at what to expect from the upcoming Fall series, but here's what they had to add:
•Director Wiseman showed several exclusive clips which were full of high-adrenaline action. Car chases, vans barreling through buildings, explosions — the footage felt more like a movie than a TV show, which is thanks to Wiseman's big-screen sensibility. In fact, this is the first time he's ever ventured into television. •Park is actually playing Kona in Hawaii Five-0 — a role that was originally played by a man. It's not the first time she's taken on a guy's part (her character in Battlestar was also male first). Park responded that she feels like it's just a sign of the times, and more roles are open to women now other than just "a wife, mother, or prostitute." •The film's producers assured the audience that the show would satisfy every kind of TV watcher. They promise a new case every week, but there will also be a big mystery revealed over the course of the series for those viewers who stay loyal. To hear more about the series, read more.
•Although Alex O'Loughlin couldn't make it to the panel, writer Alex Kurtzman did touch on why they chose him for McGarrett: "He's very focused, and it was like, 'Wow, this is a guy who could really be a leader of a team.'" As for the classic part of Danno, Kurtzman said they didn't cast Scott Caan until literally 12 hours before shooting began. •Fans of the famous theme song, fret not. Kurtzman revealed that they invited the same musicians who performed the original to come back and re-do it once more. The audience ooo'd in approval, and then to prove his point, Kurtzman showed panel-goers footage of the recording session. Daniel Dae Kim joked, "I'm just happy to be on a show that has a theme song." •Before the panel concluded, DDK took a moment to talk about the Lost finale and the death of his character Jin, saying that he's satisfied with how things ended. "The heart of Lost was the redemption [the characters] were looking for, so when they found a resting place in the finale with one another and themselves, that was the moment I was looking for." As for how Jin and Sun said goodbye: "I felt like Jin and Sun were bound to have a tragic ending, because they had so many ups and downs. There was something poetic about how they gave up their lives for one another in the end, and that's the ultimate sacrifice."

Eine Chronologie, was bei Hawaii Five-0-Panel alles so abging. Scheint total interessant gewesen zu sein, einige Clips, gute Stimmung... Hier ein Auszug:
Live blog: 'Hawaii Five-0' panel at Comic-Con
10.16am: First trailer of the new version. Character names flashing up one by one. Explosions. Guns. Jin from Lost!
10.17am: More explosions. More guns. "Book em Danno!" Theme tune. Applause.
10.18am: The moderator introduces a few of the panelists: director Len Wiseman, ep Peter Lenkov, ep Alex Kurtzman, ep Roberto Orci.
10.19am: Kurtzman introduces another clip: "Unfortunately when Danno and McGarrett meet, they don't like each other." Clip is of the pair facing off, guns pointed at each other.
10.21am: Laughter and applause. Lenkov introduces another clip, the first appearance of Daniel Dae Kim as Chin Ho Kelly. "We found an actor everybody's going to like, he's new to the TV world! When we first meet Chin Ho, he's working as a security guard, basically busting people who steal from the gift shop. We find out he lost his LAPD badge in a corruption scandal. He's down on his luck."
10.23am: In the clip, Chin Ho explains that he was accused of taking payoffs. He flatly denies it. Danno and McGarrett welcome him to their team: "We don't need to talk about this again. Ever." "How do you know you can trust me?" "Because my old man did."
10.25am: Dae Kim is brought out to much applause. Orci explains the choice of Grace Park as the new Kono (for the unaware: the original Dano was a big burly guy). "We decided it's what's on the inside that counts," he jokes. "When we first meet Kono, she's training at the police academy, a little bit before graduation." ...
